Mr D. Jeremy Savage BSc(Hons) MCOptom : Optometric Director / Optometrist and Contact Lens Practitioner
Jeremy qualified in 1981 at Aston University, Birmingham. After gaining experience as an employed Optometrist he opened the practice in May 1989 with his partner Sheryl. Jeremy enjoys interaction with all his patients especially those with challenging clinical symptoms. In addition to his time at the practice he works at the West of England Eye Unit in Exeter.
Mr Ian Pieterse B.Optom, RAU, M.Optom : Optometrist and Contact Lens Practitioner
Ian qualified over 15 years ago and worked in South Africa before moving to London. He has now settled in Devon with his wife and will be working with us on Wednesday’s and Friday’s. He enjoys the outdoor life that Devon has to offer, cycling and hiking in his free time.

Mrs Christine Gibbs BSc(Hons) MCOptom : Optometrist
Mrs Gibbs has 30 years experience and has been practising with Jeremy Savage for the last 12 years. She particularly enjoys conducting eye examinations on children but welcomes new patients of all ages. Mrs Gibbs is dedicated to ensuring that all her patients are thoroughly examined and given the best possible advice.
Dr Judith Medlock PhD BSc(Hons) FCOptom : Optometrist
Dr Medlock has 32 years experience and has been practising with Jeremy Savage for the last 13 years. During this time she has really enjoyed challenges with problems in all age groups. Dr Medlock finds her job very satisfying and enjoyable especially when visual problems are successfully rectified.
Mrs Joanne Mitchell BSc (Hons) MCOptom : Optometrist and Contact Lens Practitioner
Joanne left devon briefly to study Optometry at London's City University. She has been practicing locally for over ten years. Joanne spends her time when not working as an Optometrist; bringing up her three young daughters with her husband. Joanne has also recently become a school governor. She welcomes all types of patient, providing a thorough test to meet each and every individual need. Joanne will be working with us every Monday, Friday and one Saturday per month. Miss Elizabeth Sullivan BSc(Hons) MCOptom : Optometrist and Contact Lens Practitioner
Miss Sullivan has experience in a variety of different clinical settings and works also at the West of England Eye Unit, Exeter. She is confident in managing patients with Low Vision requirements and also complex contact lens cases, she thoroughly enjoys working with children. Miss Sullivan welcomes examinations of all types and strives to get the best results for each individual patient's needs.
Mrs Sheryl Savage : Managing Director
Having been a teacher, Sheryl joined Jeremy to open the practice in May 1989. The practice has grown over the years from a small single unit in Phoenix Lane to the double, two storey building it now occupies. Over the years that Sheryl has managed the practice she has been supported by an exceptional team, several have been with the practice for many years. Benjamin and Giles, Sheryl and Jeremy’s sons, have grown up over the years that the practice has grown. When not working Sheryl enjoys being outdoors and her great passion is sailing.
Mrs Helen Taylor FBDO : Dispensing Optician/Manager
I joined Jeremy Savage Optometrists in 2003. After working with the team for one year I undertook the dispensing course, qualifying in 2007. I particularly enjoy working with the patients, especially children’s dispensing. Outside of work I enjoy the outdoors, wildlife/nature, camping and have a keen interest in film.
Miss Vicki Cole : Practice Manager / Optometric Clinical Assistant
I have been employed at Jeremy Savage Optometrists since 1998 and in 2010 I was promoted to Practice Manager. My job role is very varied, but I primarily manage the practice on a day to day basis. I also work in the laboratory, glazing spectacles on site. I am kept very busy in my spare time by my young son and am currently studying for a degree in Business Management with the Open University.
Mrs Debbie Stanford : Senior Receptionist / Frame Stylist
I have worked with Jeremy Savage Optometrists since 2004 after relocating from Surrey. I work closely with Jeremy Savage undertaking his secretarial and administrative duties. I have worked in similar patient based environments for the last 30 years. I enjoy working as part of a team and interacting with people of all ages.
Miss Janet Turner : Receptionist / Frame Stylist
I joined Jeremy Savage Optometrists in the summer of 2009 on a part time basis not having worked in optics before. Since joining I have learnt an enormous amount with the help of the team at Jeremy Savage about a fascinating subject. In my spare time I breed and show Arabian horses on a small scale, having given up international endurance riding.
Mrs Heidi Arm : Receptionist / Frame Stylist
I joined the team in November 2010 as part of the reception staff. I have really enjoyed learning how to fulfil my job role. I have become a regular contact lens wearer and I am currently assisting patients in the care of their contact lenses.
